Just One Healthy Habit: Water

One of the easiest things to add into my life to feel better is drinking a bit more water each day. It's also one of the things that seems to drop out of my mind too easily leaving me realizing how thirsty I am at 8pm when it's already too late to drink what I need unless I want to get up in the night. I'm great when doing athletic things, in fact, it is pretty well known by my running friends that I get very stressed (another term that may be thrown around is whiney) if I forget to bring enough water. But during normal day to day life, I tend to forget about it, especially in the fall as the air gets colder. I can tell when I'm not getting enough: my throat dries out, I tend to feel a bit draggy in the morning, I crave sugar and I have a vague lethargy that can be quickly fixed by a glass of water, if I realize that's the issue.

I don't ever advise people increase their water intake by a lot all at once, so this week it's about starting that push to drink more. I'll start each morning with one large glass of lemon water. The key will be that I can't have my morning coffee until I've finished it. Seems simple enough, but sometimes the simple ones are the worst ones.
